The Jura CLARIS Smart filter (part 71793). It is also sold as 71794. You may see it written as Claris Smart, CLARIS Smart, Claris Smart mini, Claris Smart+, Clearyl Smart. These are all the same filter.

Q: How often should I change it?

Every 2 months. That is the manufacturer's limit and it is a maximum, not a target — they state it as a time or a number of litres, whichever comes first. In a very hard water area we suggest about 6 weeks instead, which is our own advice rather than theirs.

Not reliably. There is a chip inside the genuine filter and the machine checks for it, so a filter it does not recognise is rejected. Other brands do sell chipped versions, but acceptance is inconsistent, so the manufacturer's own cartridge is the dependable choice.
