Q: Which water filter does the Gaggia Babila take?

The CA6702. It is also sold as 21001711. You may see it written as Intenza+, Intenza Plus, CA6706, Brita Intenza Plus. These are all the same filter.

Q: How often should I change it?

Every 2 months. That is the manufacturer's limit and it is a maximum, not a target — they state it as a time or a number of litres, whichever comes first. In a very hard water area we suggest about 6 weeks instead, which is our own advice rather than theirs.

Q: Can I use a cheaper compatible filter?

Yes. The CA6702 is a plain mechanical fitting with no chip and no lock, so a compatible filter of the right shape works the same way as the manufacturer's own.
